Starting my invisalign Journey with Casa Dental @ Clementi

My teeth were never really very straight from young, but I didn't think they were bad enough for me to want to fix them. But at the age of 34, the incisors on the bottom row had been shifting so much that I felt my bite was affected.

After much contemplation and research, I decided to give invisalign a try to straighten my teeth. After a few calls, I decided to have my treatment at Casa Dental. Their treatment, while not the cheapest, are affordable and more importantly, I am comfortable with the dentist. My treatment will cost about $7500, which I will be paying in installments.

I settled on invisalign for a few reasons, firstly, I did not need to extract any teeth for the procedure. My dentist told me that with invisalign, she can help to file down some teeth to create space for my crowded bottom row. That suits my needs just fine, as I have other medical condition that makes extraction more troublesome. I was initially concerned about whether there will be damage to my teeth if I file them down, but my dentist assured me that they do not file down a lot, and the enamel is still protecting my teeth. Of course, I have to do my share of keeping my teeth clean by brushing and flossing often.

After finding out more about the procedure, X rays of my teeth were taken, and two moulds was made by my dentist. One was used to keep a record of my teeth, while the other was sent to Invisalign company in the States to get my Clin check. A clincheck is a program designed to show you how my teeth would be moving throughout the treatment, as well as how many sets of aligners I would require to get the desired results.

It did take about a month for me to get my clincheck results, which stated that I had to have 20 aligners for my top row, while the bottom was more problematic and required 32 aligners. There were various attachments that I needed to place on my teeth to achieve better results. My dentist ran through the treatment schedule with me, and gave me a heads up of what to expect, before getting my consent to go ahead and order the aligners.

It was another month of waiting before I could get the aligners as they are shipped in from the US. I have been wearing them for a month now, and I will share that experience in another post. Eagerly awaiting to see the final results. :)
